Now more than ever, trees and forests are at the heart of healthy, livable, sustainable communities around the globe.
Tree Cities of the World was launched in 2018 through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to inspire cities and towns to care for and celebrate their urban tree canopy. Today, hundreds of cities worldwide have answered the call, growing greener, more resilient places their residents are proud to call home.
Making the world better one city at a time
Doing the work for your city
It takes more than planting trees to make a city more livable for its residents. That’s why cities earn recognition only by meeting all five standards of the programme. It’s an effort worth celebrating together.
A global network of doers
More and more cities are recognising the power of urban trees and forests to transform the health of their communities. See what leaders are doing to make their cities stand out.
